Brand identity for
outdoor brands

Wildspark builds brand identities for outdoor and sporting goods companies: positioning, naming, logos, visual identity systems, packaging that stands out on a crowded retail wall, and creative direction that keeps every catalog, site, and campaign consistent. Our work includes SIK Broadheads, STIGA, Viva-Sol, and Woodplay's Swingsets.com.

The Problem

Great gear with a forgettable brand doesn't sell

Walk any archery, hunting, or sporting goods aisle and the packaging starts to blur together: the same camo, the same clamshells, the same promises. Online it's the same story with stock photos. When every brand looks alike, buyers default to price or to the name they already know.

We start with research: competitor price points, perceived quality, and where the market is crowded. Then we build a brand positioned exactly where it needs to be to win, and carry it through every touchpoint.

What We Do

Branding, packaging, and creative direction

Strategy & Positioning
Competitive analysis and a clear positioning statement that defines who you're for, what you stand for, and why you're different. Everything else is built on it.
Naming
Names for new brands and product lines that fit the category, work as a story, and hold up across packaging, web, and social.
Logo & Visual Identity
Logo systems, color palettes, typography, and patterns, with flexible marks that adapt across product lines while staying unmistakably yours.
Packaging Design
Retail packaging that sells in to buyers and sells through on the shelf, including structure, sourcing, and print setup, not just the graphics.
Creative Direction
One consistent voice and look across campaigns, catalogs, websites, and video, so every launch reinforces the brand instead of reinventing it.
Catalogs & Print
Dealer catalogs, pricelists, and print pieces that give reps something worth handing over. Our Archery Catalog Kit for Bear Archery's brands earned AAF Judge's Choice and EDG Gold awards.

FAQ

Common questions

What does an outdoor brand identity include?
A complete identity covers positioning and messaging, the name if you need one, a logo system, color, typography, patterns, and photography direction, plus guidelines that show how it all applies to packaging, web, and print. For gear brands, packaging and retail presence are usually part of the same project.
Can you refresh an existing brand without losing what customers already recognize?
Yes. A refresh starts with market and competitive research to find what still works and what's holding the brand back. For Woodplay, a premium playset brand losing share to newer competitors, we built new positioning around the parent who makes the purchase decision, then carried it through to the Swingsets.com website.
Do you design packaging for sporting goods retail?
Yes. Packaging has to sell in to buyers and sell through on a crowded wall. Our packaging work includes SIK Broadheads, where we sourced differentiated packaging at a cost comparable to competitors' clamshells, and STIGA, designed to sell table tennis in sporting goods stores nationwide.
Do you name new brands and products?
Yes. Naming is often the first step for a new brand. We named Viva-Sol, meaning Long Live Sun, and built the brand strategy, story, and website around it.
